Tim Johnson
Director
NHTSA Vehicle Research and Test Center
Since 2012, Tim has been a member of the senior executive service at the U.S. Department of Transportation, and in July 2015 was named as the Director of NHTSA’s Vehicle Research and Test Center (VRTC).  Tim has responsibility for carrying out applied research to support agency programs in several key areas including intelligent technologies, human factors, heavy vehicle research, electronic technologies, crashworthiness, biomechanics and defect investigations. Previously Tim was located in the Washington, DC area for 22 years and has held several technical lead and management positions within the federal government, most recently as the Director of NHTSA’s Crash Avoidance and Electronic Controls Research Office.

Banny Allison

Banny Allison, fleet services manager, for AmeriPride and Canadian Linen, manages fleet operations for the entire company, including 115 production facilities and service centers and more than 2,000 vehicles. He strives to provide exceptional customer service in fleet operations to his internal customers, including more than 2,250 field personnel throughout North American operations. Banny and his team were able to save over $2M in wasteful idling by adding new technologies and reprogramming engine control models. He is a Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) and prior to AmeriPride, Banny worked for Marco, Inc.

     
 

Stephane Babcock

Stephane Babcock has more than a decade of experience writing for the automotive industry, including stints with custom truck and motorcycle magazines, as well as experience in the school bus and fleet industries. Stephane is conference chair of Fleet Technology Expo, and currently serves as managing editor of Heavy Duty Trucking magazine with a particular interest in alternative fuels, fleet safety, and engine technologies. Previously, he worked as senior editor on other Bobit titles, such as Automotive Fleet, Work Truck, Green Fleet and Fleet Financials.

Through regular site visits, discussions and business reviews, he works with each client to establish and review policies and strategies, evaluate performance trends and proactively identify opportunities for success. His consultative support is focused on helping each client achieve a best-in-class, cost-effective, and optimally-run fleet. George has been an account manager at Wheels since 2011. He previously spent five years as an account manager for The NPD Group.

Jon works with Ford's fleet customers to develop sustainable solutions for their specific needs through the use of technology, fleet optimization and understanding driver behavior. Jon has been involved with sustainability at Ford for more than 15 years and has represented Ford at venues ranging from the United Nations to the Academy of Management to Clinton Global Initiative and other thought-leading conferences. His passion for sustainability is evident in his research focusing on how large organizations engage in sustainable behavior and how that decision making process can be embedded in an organization's day–to-day operations. This research provides unique insights into the evolution of corporate sustainability.

     
   

Simon Dean

Simon Dean is an engineering executive and new product development expert in the commercial vehicle industry. With more than 20 years of experience, Simon has driven every aspect of vehicle systems development from concept to production, at both the OEM and Tier 1 levels for passenger vehicles and commercial trucks. He currently leads engineering and project management for WABCO Americas, and is responsible for a wide scope of products ranging from foundation brakes to advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). In addition, Simon leads development of WABCO’s future automated vehicle systems for the North American market.

Ross Friedmann

Ross Friedmann has been in the commercial fleet segment for over 20 years. Ross started his career with Kenworth Truck Co., moving on to launch commercial sales programs at Subaru of America and Audi of America; progressing to Mercedes-Benz USA, as central region fleet account manager; and currently is the manager of commercial accounts at Hyundai Motor America where he manages an active role in the formal launch of the commercial sales department. Ross has served AFLA as the membership committee chair and communications member, and received the AFLA President’s Award for his work on the membership committee.

     
  Erin Gilchrist

Erin has been instrumental in leading the company’s vision of a long-term innovation and sustainability strategy with the company’s fleet of more than 8,500 vehicles. In 2015, Erin and her team were able to drive programs and processes that reduced the fleet cost per mobile customer served by $1.5M in overall operating cost. Erin introduced telematics to Safelite in 2013, which saved the company $3.2M last year alone (for a total of $7.1M to-date). Erin serves on several fleet advisory boards and has received multiple industry awards including the NAFA Fleet Excellence Award, PHH’s Business Impact Award and Element’s Fleet Visionary Award.

     
 

Jerry Hubbell

Jerry Hubbell is president of DJL Associates International Inc., an automotive consulting firm specializing in heavy truck product & business development. He is also president of Spirited Eagle Enterprises a start-up company focused on developing technical solutions to the severe vision difficulties of heavy truck.Jerry is former vice president of global product and business development for Dana’s Commercial Vehicle Cab Systems and was with Ford Motor Company for 35 years. He is chairman of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Body & Occupant Environment Steering Committee. He is also chairman of the TMC Future Cab & Driver Interface Task Force and member of the TMC Future Truck Committee.

Mark began with ARI in 2002 as a district manager in the same region before being promoted. Mark's prior fleet industry experience includes regional vice president, US Fleet, Associates and GE Fleet. Jason Mantel

Jason Mantel is senior vice president in the Automotive Group at Morpace, leading Diversified accounts. Under Jason’s leadership, the Diversified division is currently hosting MyDrivingPower, a syndicated online research community of alternative powertrain vehicle owners, who regularly discuss their views on the industry and current events; and expanding commercial vehicle insights by triangulating vehicle usage data with web inventory search and contextual survey data to create predictive analyses. As a RIVA-certified moderator, he's also an active member of Morpace’s qualitative initiatives, frequently leading discussions on current automotive topics from commercial vehicles, to EV, mobility, and complexity management.

Mike was the founding general manager for Video Intelligence Solutions and also the vice president of business development at PeopleNet, vice president of business development and region sales at TMW Systems, vice president of fleet imaging solutions at DriverTech, and national sales manager at McLeod Software.

Lloyd Palum leads a group of data and software engineers at Vnomics Corp focused on delivering advanced analytic solutions that enable fleets to improve driver and vehicle performance. Lloyd has more than 25 years of experience in both commercial and government system development and holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from University of Rochester. He holds five patents in the field of software and wireless communications. Lloyd has published a number of technical articles and speaks frequently at industry conferences.

Jim Park is the equipment editor at Heavy Duty Trucking. He brings 15 years editorial experience in the trucking trade media to his role at HDT, preceded by 20 years experience as a commercial driver and owner-operator. Jim still has a valid CDL and has written several research papers, and has earned over a dozen business journalism awards for his work in various trucking trade media magazines. His previous experience as a driver and owner-operator give him a deeper understanding of the in-service realities of the equipment he writes about, and a folksy writing style makes his work compelling and easy to read.

Vince Peschio is the VP/Chief Technology Officer of QuikQ, a fuel transaction processing company bringing new technologies to the transportation industry. Vince has been involved in software development for more than 30 years. He has witnessed first-hand the evolution of computer technology from mainframes to personal computers and programming languages from assembler to 4GL languages. Before entering the trucking software industry, Vince spent his career in health care assisting a variety of medical based companies with their information system and software needs, including serving as the regional CIO for Community Health Systems (CHS) Virginia hospitals.
